WhiteGloveRipsHow We Value Items

How We Value Items

Real memorabilia. Real sourcing.

Real memorabilia. Real sourcing. Fair, transparent values.

Putting an exact “market value” on autographed memorabilia isn’t always simple.

Unlike products with a fixed retail price, memorabilia values can vary based on the player, item type, authentication, inscriptions, rarity, condition, presentation, team, and recent comparable sales. Some pieces trade frequently, while others may have few—or no—truly comparable recent sales.

That’s why WhiteGloveRips uses an Estimated Value instead of claiming every item has one definitive market price.

How We Calculate Estimated Value

Our Estimated Values are based primarily on what it actually costs us to acquire an item, plus a modest standardized markup.

We may also consider factors such as:

  • Authentication and COA
  • Player and item type
  • Inscriptions or special features
  • Condition and presentation
  • Scarcity or uniqueness
  • Relevant retail pricing
  • Recent comparable sales, when available

The goal isn't to assign the highest value we can justify.

It's to create a consistent and reasonable value for every item available on WhiteGloveRips.

Our Sourcing Advantage Becomes Your Advantage

We source memorabilia through wholesalers, distributors, partners, bulk purchases, private deals, and other negotiated relationships.

That often allows us to acquire inventory for significantly less than traditional retail pricing.

Rather than simply taking an item we sourced at a great price and assigning it the highest retail value we can find, our Estimated Value starts with our actual acquisition economics.

That means you may find memorabilia on WhiteGlove with an Estimated Value that is lower than what comparable items are listed or sold for elsewhere.

We find the deals. You get the upside.

Why We Do It This Way

Mystery products only work when customers can trust the numbers behind them.

We don't want inflated values making a box look better on paper than it really is.

Using our acquisition cost as the foundation gives us a consistent way to value inventory while allowing the benefits of our sourcing relationships and bulk purchasing power to flow through to our customers.

Sometimes we source an item exceptionally well.

When that happens, we don't believe the entire discount should disappear just because we could assign the item a higher retail value.

Estimated Value Is Not a Guaranteed Resale Price

WhiteGlove Estimated Value is our internal estimate used throughout the platform.

It is not an appraisal, guaranteed retail price, guaranteed resale price, or prediction of what an item will be worth in the future.

Memorabilia markets change, and the price another buyer is willing to pay for a particular item can vary.

You may find comparable items selling for more than our Estimated Value.

You may also find comparable items selling for less.

Our goal is simply to provide a consistent, transparent and reasonable valuation methodology across the WhiteGlove platform.

What This Means for Your Rips

The values you see on WhiteGlove aren't designed around finding the biggest possible number for every item.

They're designed around what we actually source inventory for.

So when our sourcing team finds an exceptional deal, that value can make its way into the platform.

And sometimes, that means the item you hit may be worth considerably more in the broader memorabilia market than the Estimated Value shown on WhiteGlove.

Better sourcing. Fairer values. More upside.
